A story of choosing forgiveness in the presence of prejudice and ignorance especially where absence of love is eminent, while working out what this painting could be, I reflected on what the culmination of 2023 as a year had been, meeting old wounds of past experiences, forced to revisit situations and meeting memories long forgotten, understanding the expiration of certain friendships and the unfolding of new ones.
The constant reminders of pain in life and how to transcend those experiences,2023 unmasked the ignorance of the collective and asked society many questions. Understanding that finally the only way one can be healed from painful life experiences or memories.
Developing softness with oneself and being merciful to others, sometimes the act of gentleness in a restrictive world is seen as a weakness but to me it is an act of defiance to a structure geared to choose confusion, chaos and disunity and a tool for healing one’s deepest wounds.
So, like a flame from a matchstick, one can use their effort to light up a room or start a fire.
