Shoghi Aqdas
Artist Biography
Born in 1991 in Africa, Shoghi was exposed to art from an early age. He faced several challenges dealing with poverty and navigating life as a queer African, spending most of his formative teen years in East Africa and later moving to the USA.
This move would become a great opportunity for the artist, as he dedicated his time to Chicago, Illinois, to building on his craft and working on small—to large-scale local film and creative projects.
These experiences would end up encouraging his dream of being a multidisciplinary artist. Shoghi has had a non-traditional approach to life and is mostly self-taught from trial-and-error attempts and learning from his mistakes. Using experiences and talent to improve his life. His paintings explore philosophical questions, curiosities, life experiences, nature, shapes, and colors.
with an ever-evolving body of work, the paintings are expressed on canvas, wood panels, metal, and film.
He continues to approach his creative musings in his home studio in Florida.
